I wasn't really into clustered pendants until Serah (she's got a upcoming revamped site - it looks really professional and breathtakingly chic) talked me into trying some with my designs. I wouldn't say that I was immediately hooked.. tying tiny links onto chains isn't exactly a cup of tea but I decided to give it a go.
The result is the start of a series of jewelry which befits a series for the Fall 2008 collection by itself - with the help of Serah of course, and a lengthy conversation with my cutters in India for more stones to replenish the existing gemstone stocks. I saw some of the new designs that Basil from AtelierGems has been churning out.. he's a one man torch wielding machine when he puts his mind to it. I just wish I had taken the same jewelry setting classes he did - it's not time for regrets however!Fall 2008 promises to be exciting - this is the first time we'll be working together in earnest - and it is almost time to shed that silly "Handmade Collective" label and unveil our new studio name soon (and . Kayla is working hard on her pearl-direct.com site - and we're looking into maybe getting a spot at artisan impact's catalog - and maybe sharing the cost for a real photo box instead of wrangling over 2 photo tents at this juncture.
Rea from Rea Ashlie - Wearable Sterling Art, is in the midst of getting more items up in her online store (www.reaashlie.com) and at etsy in time for the 2nd half of the year.
I see great times ahead!
